The Write Retreat

Make your book dream a reality in 2020

The  Write Retreat

with Jessica Huie & Siobhan Curham

Tuesday 5th May – Thursday 7th May 2020

Brooklands Barn, Arundel, UK

We’ve created this writing retreat as a way of gifting others with the support to move their pipe dream into a reality.

To open up the possibility that writing might transform lives in the way it has transformed ours.

To allow the chance for people to create something which can be their own legacy. Ongoing, infinite and a gift which lives beyond them.

Creativity deserves to be honoured as the tool for transformation that it is, and whether you want to write for pleasure, for family, for self or traditional publishing, The Write Retreat offers the space to drop out of your head and into your heart and make your book dream a reality.

This Retreat is for you if;

  • You want to write fiction or non fiction and don’t know where/how to start
  • You’ve got a book idea, perhaps you’ve even started writing and want to pitch it to a publisher
  • You’re keen to self publish a book
  • You’ve written a book and are keen to better understand how to promote your writing and build your audience
  • You feel blocked – whether internally through fear of failure, or externally through lack of time and focus

Expect;

  • Support around the key aspects of fiction writing – from coming up with ideas and crafting a page-turning plot, to developing compelling characters and writing dialogue and description that really resonates.
  • Workshop on pitching to agents & the pros and cons of self publishing
  • Workshop on how to embrace visibility as an Author and build/create an audience
  • Workshop on how to create a compelling book proposal
  • Daily meditation and morning practise to support the creative process
  • Take ownership of yourself as a writer – own your story
  • Tools for supporting focussed writing which can be used beyond the retreat
  • Beautiful surroundings amidst acres of English country-side
  • Indoor swimming pool & sauna for evening reflection time
  • Delicious nourishing vegetarian food and daily fresh juice
  • To leave fired up with a head full of ideas and a heart full of hope, ambition and possibilities!

Jessica:

“I remember it clearly. It was 5am on the deadline date which Hay House had set for me to submit PURPOSE. It was cold, crisp and wintry but bright and beautiful. I hit send on the final transcript and the world had never seemed lighter.
The sun beaming through my window and right through me, the very process of writing was in itself, transformational.
It changed me.

Writing a book is the most rewarding professional thing I have ever done. And I’ve been blessed to travel to many parts of the world, engage in fascinating conversation and experience more than I ever imagined I could. But writing PURPOSE tops it all.

It brought me back to the root of who I am, who I had always been and yet had forgotten along the way – a writer. And now returned home to myself and reunited with this precious missing piece of my puzzle, I can only wonder how I got this far without writing being the central, necessary, sacred part of my life it has become.

I met Siobhan at a festival where we were both speakers and I fell in love with her humility and grace, and her commitment to empowering others through writing. I was also blown away by the fact she’d written more than 30 books!!! Legend. I’m beyond delighted that she agreed to partner on The WRITE Retreat as she has many years of experience in helping others to birth their books into the world. Combined with my 20 years experience in creating transformational visibility, we have so much to share!”

Siobhan:

“When Jessica asked me if I’d be interested in running a writing retreat with her I jumped at the chance. I’m a huge fan of her writing and masterclasses, and we’re really on the same page when it comes to wanting to empower and inspire other writers.

In the 20 years I’ve been an author I’ve run writing workshops for thousands of people all over the world. For six years two separate London councils hired me to run weekly writing workshops for adults in their libraries. That’s a lot of writing workshops and it really helped me hone my ability as a writing coach and workshop facilitator.

Helping other people achieve their writing dreams is a hugely rewarding part of my career and I’m so excited at the prospect of running this writing retreat with Jessica. Residential retreats give the participants – and the facilitators – an invaluable opportunity to go so much deeper…”

“When we open ourselves to our creativity, we open ourselves to the creator’s creativity within us and our lives.”

– Julia Cameron, The Artists Way

Rebecca Harrison, Rebecca Harrison Designs

“Something magical happened during the retreat, a combination of the tranquil space of Brookland's Barn, the time to focus, the awakening workshops.  It enabled me to come away clearly knowing where I was going and how I was going to express myself going forwards so that I can run a business that is grounded in my values and that will have longevity and purpose beyond making sales."

Rebecca Harrison, Rebecca Harrison Designs

“It’s been a beautiful, magical four days here with fellow creative entrepreneurs. A time of real deep, genuine connection and nourishment for the body, mind and soul. I had so many personal and professional shifts in such a short space of time and will treasure the experience for a long time to come.”

Adanna Onuekwusi, Invicta Writers

“It was MAGIC! The nuggets that continue to surface after the process are exciting and I feel so blessed to have been part of such a transformational and fulfilling experience, forever a monumental part of my journey for sure.”

Grace Willis-Hodgins, DramEd UK

“I came to The POWER Retreat with a great idea and no real way of communicating it to others, having been thinking about it for 2 years. The POWER Retreat, the conversations with Jess and the other mentors have helped me to focus on how my idea is important to others as well as the story behind my idea, the story behind me.”

Alex Stevens, AVM

“ It’s been an incredibly rewarding experience. Jessica has been immensely helpful and inspiring helping us to see what’s special and unique about our own work and businesses, that maybe we couldn’t quite see ourselves. She’s shown us how we can take our work to the next level and be more visible and out there in the world. ”

Suzanne Campbell

“Having read PURPOSE I wanted to continue the journey and put my learning into practise. I was inspired and humbled by the general awesomeness of everyone attending.”
