A week of service, soul nourishment, and reconnection in Jamaica’s Blue MountainsÂ
Join myself, Cassanie, and Nadine for a retreat experience with a difference -Â one that blends the restoration and reflection of a traditional retreat with the profound fulfilment that comes from selfless service.
For six years, The Purpose Retreat has woven service into its fabric. Together, our groups have visited schools, rehabilitation centres, built fences, and planted fruit and vegetables. This year, in the wake of Hurricane Melissa’s devastation, we return to the island with a deeper calling - to place service at the very heart of our purpose.
Â
There is no greater nourishment for the soul than to serve.
This retreat invites you to embody that truth and experience stillness and restoration while supporting local Jamaican community projects including orphanages, farms, and schools,
playing a part in helping our beloved island rebuild.Â
Our Charity Partner:
SOS Children’s Villages JamaicaÂ
For over 55 years, SOS Children’s Villages Jamaica has provided safe, family-based care for children and young people who are unable to remain with their families of origin. Their work is rooted in empathy, stability, and a deep belief that every child deserves a sense of belonging and the opportunity to shape their own future.
Founded in Montego Bay in 1970, with a second Village established in Kingston in 1982, the organisation has long been a cornerstone of child welfare on the island. Following the impact of Hurricane Melissa, children living at the Montego Bay Village were displaced and temporarily relocated to the Kingston site, causing significant disruption at a time when care and continuity mattered most.
In Jamaica, 44% of people living in poverty are children. This reality perpetuates cycles of poverty, increases the risk of neglect, and limits social mobility and economic opportunity - leaving countless bright futures constrained by circumstance rather than potential.
SOS Children’s Villages Jamaica is committed to positively impacting the lives of 1,000 children, young people, and family members each year through programmes focused on strengthening families, equipping young people with skills for economic independence, and providing safe, nurturing homes for children who have had to be separated from their families of origin. At present, 91 children are supported through their core family-based care programme.
Our voluntary contribution will take the form of a respectful cultural exchange, offering presence, supplies and support to both the house mothers and the children, while honouring the dignity and lived experience of the community.
Why Now?
Tourism is one of the pillars of Jamaica’s economy - contributing roughly a third of the nation’s GDP and supporting one in every four jobs through hotels, restaurants, transport, and local enterprise. By joining this retreat, you are directly contributing to Jamaica’s recovery helping the country get “back to work” while channelling meaningful resources into the communities that need them most.
Jamaica, as many of us know, is one of the most beautiful and spiritually potent places on earth. The island’s soil is rich with healing energy and home to more medicinal plants than anywhere else in the world. Spending a week in the serenity of the Blue Mountains, connecting deeply with self, others, and the land, is a gift of transformation.
